Oakbrook Terrace Tower, an octagonal 31-story office building, was designed by Helmut Jahn and built in 1987. The stunning five-story lobby is clad in white and gray marbles. It features a stainless steel sculpture by Nancy Graves titled Peripeteia '88.
The Tower's distinctive octagonal design commands the suburban horizon and is visible from downtown Chicago. Oakbrook Terrace is a small residential and commercial city, covering approximately 1.8 square miles. For much of its existence, Oakbrook Terrace has lived in the shadow of its wealthy and prestigious neighbor, Oak Brook, from which it adapted its name.
A landmark building, Oakbrook Terrace Tower is the tallest in Illinois outside of the downtown Chicago market. The 418-foot tower boasts 773,000 square-feet of office space. Located on the site is a Hilton Suites Hotel and Hilton Garden Inn. Premier amenities include a restaurant, gift shop, florist, health club with pool, in-office massage therapy, retail shops, banking, cable TV, dry cleaning, underground parking, 24-hour security and hair salon.
The famous Drury Lane Theater is a large theater and conference center adjacent to Oakbrook Tower. Oakbrook Mall is right next to the Oakbrook Terrace Tower and what makes Oakbrook Mall stand out is the beautiful landscaping and monument to the mall, as well as, the outdoor common areas where shoppers can relax after a day of shopping at Oakbrook Center.
